You Are What You Eat

So are you just considered FOOD if your life pretty much revolves around it? I don't know if this is how other women/moms/SAHMs are or if it's just me, but I seriously feel like almost every single thing I do is somehow connected to food - shopping for food, searching for new recipes, making food for us, making food for Olivia, feeding myself, feeding Olivia, nursing Olivia (YEAH, THAT'S FOOD!), hiding my 'nursers' from Olivia, cleaning up the dirty food dishes, putting them back away, sweeping the food up off the floor, changing a dirty diaper, wanting to eat desserts, trying to work off said desserts, hating my clothes (really my body) because I ate too much food, washing food stains out of those same clothes. Are you getting my point?

For two consecutive days last week, I pretty much spent the daytime hours making roasted veggie lasagna, 17 breakfast burritos, and 5 different types of food for Olivia to eat (and to freeze for future days). It IS surprising that I would still even want to be around food! But, man, I love it.

Avocado/banana, apple, apricot/banana/rice cereal in the awesome freezer
containers my mom got us for Christmas.

Orange/prune & apple/pear.

And, I really have to thank Marissa for her advice on making breakfast burritos for David.  They are truly a labor of love, but they are oh-so-worth-it!  When I can't make breakfasts for him, he can easily grab one of these from the freezer, nuke it for 2 minutes, and voila, instant breakfast goodness!  And, can I just say that he was skeptical about these burritos and now will sometimes choose these over a "fresh" breakfast?!

Because I knew you were missing my posts about eggs....

Cooked hot sausage, 12 eggs + 2 cups of egg beaters, sauteed onions & bell peppers
 over a medium-hot stove*....

Add this mixture w/ some shredded mexi-cheese onto a burrito sized flour tortilla, fold, wrap in wax paper and then foil, and freeze for a delicious morning treat!

*Try not to be too jealous of my utensil holder that attaches to my pan!  My brother got it for us for Christmas.

So glad you (and David) like the breakfast burrito idea. We really love those and they sure come in handy on hectic mornings. Even the boys love them. :) And I totally feel you on the food thing. I'm getting to the point where I just hate food in general. I mean, I love it, but I hate that I have to constantly be thinking about it... Grrr.

We love them too!! On the mornings when I head out to play golf (no work for me)I just grab one and nuke it. They are so delicious. Amanda taught her mom how to make them and when we got home from out Christmas visit we made a bunch and put them in the freezer. Delicious! Thanks Marissa for passing on the receipe.

Your Dad and I made some b/fast burritos when we came back from Christmas. I'm not sure ours are as good as yours but it does beat a cold bowl of cereal any day. I'm fixing you some blueberry pancakes when you and Olivia come out. I like the way you make the breakfasts but Dave does a lot of the evening meals so it kind of evens itself out!

Hahaha! I just read your Dad's post. This is what happens when we each have our own computer and have been married for almost 39 years. We think too much alike!!!

Okay, not that my lunch time hunger pangs have turned into full-fledged starvation...

YOU, my dear, are insanely awesome for making him breakfast every morning- nuked or not! Seriously, I make breakfast for Kiel and I too...

Step 1: Open FiberOne granola bar box
Step 2: Remove single granola bar
Step 3: Unwrap and eat.
Step 4: Ignore stomach's plead for more substantial meals and drown with coffee.

yeah, my life seems to pretty much revolve around food. And laundry. And then more food. Then a laundry break. Then a food break from laundry. and on and on into INFINITY

Well, it's close to 6pm here and although I was planning to make dinner for myself tonight (an occasion which I truly treasure), looking at those burritos made me change my mind. Breakfast for dinner it will be (for me). Yum!

I hope you don't think this is wierd, but I've been reading your blog since you were pregnant...and I'm finally delurking to say that you inspired me with these burritos! I decided to be a good wife and made some for my hubby who has officially deemed them "the bomb" - so I just wanted to say THANKS! He is happy, and I don't feel so guilty for sending him off to work without a hearty breakfast :)
