Heinz 57's Got Nothing on Me

I'm playing ketchup catch-up here.  Time flies when you are having fun!

I rushed out Friday after posting the pictures from Olivia's class to go get pampered for an hour or so.  David treated me to an hour-long foot massage at our local spa.  If you are anything like me, the pedicures spend too much time painting the toenails and not enough time quieting those barking dogs.   David took advantage of the alone time with Olivia to go do what he does best with her -- PLAY!

I met up with them after my massage and entertained Olivia on the ride back home.

I even got treated to a Jocko's steak dinner -- at home since dining out with Olivia at a restaurant where a meal takes about 3 hours is pretty much the opposite of fun in my book!

On Saturday, we woke up early and got ready early and headed out to the Remnants of the Past show {after stopping at Starbucks to try those Pumpkin Spice Lattes that everyone is raving about}.  There were some really incredible antiques there and I would have loved to spend all day browsing the booths and dreaming of decorating a little lake cottage somewhere.  Unfortunately, that kind of slow shopping is not in the cards with a toddler who {remember this?} won't sit still.  We were still able to spend a couple of hours there shopping around.  I stole these pictures off of their website...

Okay, how awesome is that pumpkin?  We got a small orange one that says "A grateful heart."  This booth seriously had to have raked in the money on Saturday.  These were selling like hotcakes and the big ones were going for $60.

Even though we got to the show shortly after it opened, there was still a line at the door.  Olivia immediately ran up to another little girl who was about 12 people in front of us to socialize.  We met up with this girl several times throughout the morning.

She spied an antique pig statue {that was hideous} and kept doing the sign for pig and "oinking."

Notice Olivia in those boots?  She LOVES them!  She is such a girl sometimes - she loves shoes and accessories!  Good thing because these two just came in the mail...

Oh yeah.  That's what I'm talkin' about.

You will definitely be getting some better shots of this outfit because I plan on making her wear it at least  three times a week during the month of October.  

We headed out Saturday evening to Chuck E. Cheese and I'm totally realizing that we go to these types of places for David.  It certainly isn't for the food. 

I literally spent yesterday in the kitchen.  I decided that I wanted to try my hand at making Bakerella's Cake Pops.  I made the cake Saturday night and unfortunately, the only cake mix I had on hand was a cherry chip flavor {from an accidental quick grab at the grocery store}.  I used only the things that I already had on hand to decorate, with the exception of some edible markers I picked up at the store.  They are not the kind she recommends in her book and I really wasn't a fan of them.  I wanted to try to make pumpkins and ghosts, but after realizing how {OMG} LABOR INTENSIVE the whole process was, I decided melting one color of candy melts was enough to give me an idea of how different colors would look.

This literally took up Olivia's entire naptime.

And, why is it so hard to roll things into a ball shape?  I never was any good at that with Play-Doh when I was younger so it shouldn't surprise me that it was difficult to do.  I played around with some of the sizes because I wasn't sure which would work better...the smaller ones or bigger ones.  {I'm going to say the smaller ones were easier}.  It's hard to know if the consistency of the candy melts was right...it definitely isn't as easy as she makes it looks, and I'm not even talking about the decorating part.  Here are a few of my results.  Please don't laugh.  Or do....I did. 

I think if I put some glasses on him, he'd look like Chicken Little.

Ken and Katie came over last night and I let Ken decorate the ghost.  That shape was pretty easy to mold and I think he did a great job making a very scary ghost face.

This one is my favorite.  It was hard to draw with the markers because their tips are so wobbly, but I thought this one, with its little popcorns, is so cute.

I was really surprised at how good the cake pops tasted.  I tried my hand at dipping Oreos too, but that just didn't work for me.  And, seeing as how I had already made chicken and dumplings and homemade veggie crisps, I was pretty much done being in the kitchen.  I still have at least two dozen cake balls just waiting to be dipped and decorated.  {Pretty sure that's not going to happen anytime soon.}

Whooo, I am pooped just from putting all of this together.  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
