Odds and Ends

Oh my!  It feels like ages since my last post!  So much has happened and we have just been super busy.  Here's a little peek at what we've been up to.

+  Grandma Irma came to visit last weekend and we had SO much fun with her!  It was so wonderful having her here, even if it was for a short time.  Olivia loves her grandma so much and it was so sweet seeing her love on her.  It was so great of Irma to adjust her schedule so that she could spend some time with us.  A huge thank you, too, for my pedicure!  My toesies feel so spoiled.  Now, please, get a place out here!

+  Sydney went in for her 6 month well-check on Tuesday.  She weighs 15 pounds, 10 ounces and is in the 40th percentile for weight.  She is 27 inches long and is in the 90th percentile for height!  She is my super long baby!

+  I started Sydney on solids on Wednesday.  She is only doing the oatmeal cereal and definitely likes it best when I mix it with my milk as opposed to water.  She is so interested in other foods, so I am looking forward to feeding her something that tastes a little bit better.

Grabbing with her left hand.  Is she gonna be a lefty?

Taking a bath after her breakfast.

+  Sydney is sitting up really well these days and it's so nice to be able to sit her down and give her toys to play with.  She's also starting to get her knees underneath her, but thank goodness she isn't mobile yet!  I'm not quite ready for that.

+  Yesterday was my dad's 65th birthday.  My mom and I have been working so hard on his birthday surprise for the last couple of months.  I promise to blog in more detail about it soon, but we asked his friends and family to send in a memory to fill 65 envelopes for 65 years worth of memories.  He was so touched by the almost 70 people who sent something in for him.  He definitely cried a few times!  But, he is more than deserving of the sweet words people wrote about him.

+  He had a little party yesterday afternoon where the main food group was sugar.  There were two cakes and red velvet cupcakes.  I'm pretty sure Olivia found every single sugary food there and ate multiple pieces.  Oh my word.  When you combine sugar with a party that takes place during naptime, you really have a recipe for disaster.  Thank goodness for cartoons dvr'd on the tv in my parents' bedroom!  And, a pool open for business after the party is over.  Pretty sure she burned all of the calories she consumed and then some!

+  Olivia is doing so well at the pool!  She jumps in off the side and has taught herself to kick her little legs until she pushes her head out of the water.  It simultaneously makes me proud and scares the $&!+ out of me!

+  We are enjoying a VERY lazy {Mac} day this morning.  Olivia has taken over my phone and has watched about a zakillion Dumbo clips on youtube.  It's crazy that she can work my iPhone about as well as I can.  David isn't feeling well, so he has been in the recliner all morning playing on his iPad and I've been blogging on my mac.  Thank you, Sydney, for taking a nice long snooze.  Maybe I will join you this afternoon.

Hope your weekend is fabulous!

Beautiful blog Sis. I too am amazed at Olivia and her growth in the water and her pool activities. Thanks again for all you did to make my 65th birthday so special. You are the "BEST " daughter a dad could have. I love you so much.

Loved spending time with all of you. Olivia was so sweet to kiss my booboo several times so it would feel better! I am amazed at her swimming abilities...she is fearless. Can't wait to see Syndey sitting up when you all come up in May. Loves and hugs to the girls.

I love being a part of your "odds ad ends". I so enjoy watching each of the girls doing their own things, whether it's watching Olivia swim or Sydney learning to sit up by herself. Again, let me say how blessed we are to have you all so close.
