Sydney's First Trip to the Dentist

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a nervous wreck over taking Sydney to the dentist on Tuesday.  She pretty much hates having her teeth brushed and can be super stubborn with keeping her mouth closed as tight as possible if she is DONE with it.  A couple of weeks ago, I came up with some silly game to get her to let me brush them a little bit longer than normal {making animal sounds and pretending to search for the animals in her mouth}, but I knew she was not going to enjoy going to the dentist.

I made the appointment for Olivia and Sydney to go back-to-back so that she would be able to see Olivia in the chair being worked on and would want to do it too.  Well, that part of the plan worked for about 45 seconds.  She said she was ready and she even laid back with her mouth open before the hygienist was ready to work on her.  But, before the hygienist could finish with her back teeth, Sydney was OVER IT.  No movie playing or prize box coaxing was going to get her to open her mouth.  There was a lot of, Hold me, Mommy, hold me going on and so I finally did just that.  I sat in the chair and held her while they did a few more teeth with just the regular toothbrush.

It was not nearly as bad as I had imagined, and I'm happy to report that Olivia did awesome!  She has no cavities and didn't even need me to be back with her while they cleaned/examined her teeth.  {And, that's why there's no pictures of her.}  Such a big girl!

Bless her heart. Her facial expressions say it all.
