Holy Randomness

My mind seems to be overflowing these days, so please excuse the following ramblings.  I know there is zero cohesiveness!

-- Olivia's memory is CRAZY good.  Like, way better than mine.  Yesterday after we went to Target, we stopped by Home Depot to pick up some more paint swatches for her dresser.  {See what I said about multiple projects AND a to-do list for my parents?!}  Anyway, last time we were there, I got some Disney paint chips with the Mickey Mouse outline on them for her to play with while I pulled the Martha Stewart paint chips.  Well, yesterday as we were going in the store she said, Let's go see Mickey!

-- In my cleaning fit, I came across a birthday card my brother sent me a few birthdays ago.  The card has a picture of Hillary Clinton on it, dreaming of a pink White House.  When you open it up, it plays Girls Just Wanna Have Fun {a song that reminds my brother of me because my sorority sang it at IU Sing one year}.  Olivia has been playing with the card like crazy and even knows that the lady on the front is Hillary Clinton.  It's fun to hear her say, What's Hillary Clinton doing?  Tonight, the card was sitting on the shelf in the dining room and Olivia kept saying, Want Hillary Clinton!  Want Hillary Clinton!

-- Last night after dinner, I was outside pushing Olivia in her swing when I heard Magnum whining like mad.  I went to where I heard the noise and it turns out that he was stuck between a fence and our house.  I have no idea what he was doing back there and why in the world he thought he should try to squeeze through there.  I was a little worked up seeing as how his bones are about as durable as a dry twig.  I called David on the house phone and made him come out to help me.  I did my best to keep him calm while we figured out the best way to wiggle him out.  After he was free {and unharmed}, I went back to Olivia in the swing and she kept asking about Magnum and if he was crying.  Then she said, Did Mommy tell Magnum 'Relax'?  Yeah, Mommy did.  Did it work?

-- Speaking of our dinner, last night's was our new favorite meal that we have at least once a week.  I can't remember if I've blogged about it, but if not, here it is.  {This meal courtesy of my dad, by the way.}  I take some tilapia filets and put them on a piece or two of aluminum foil and brush olive oil on both sides.  Next, I sprinkle it with Tone's Citrus Grill Seasoning {on both sides} and then sort of make a tent out of the foil.  I slice up some squash, zucchini and bell pepper and sauté that on the stove while a handful of sweet potato fries cook in the oven.  David is in charge of putting the fish {in the aluminum foil} on the grill for about 10 minutes.  It is a super easy meal to make and it is SOOO good.  Olivia scarfs the fish down too, so that is awesome for us!

-- I am working on stocking up some little toys/books for Olivia for when the baby comes.  I know the first weeks of a newborn it seems like the nursing takes SO long.  I want to have some special toys for Olivia to have that I can pull out when I'm nursing the baby.  So, slowly but surely I'm forming a little collection.  I picked up a couple new Fisher-Price people for her collection, but just had to give her one set already.  It's a Nana and Poppy and a suitcase for them.   She LOVES them and takes them almost everywhere with her.  I cracked up Sunday night when I saw them here:

Yep, that's her little potty.

-- We either own or have checked out from the library several Olivia the Pig and Fancy Nancy books.  On most of these books, the back cover has pictures of other books in the series.  I've pointed out the books to Olivia and told her that, We've read this one and that one and this one and so now she says it all the time.  And, it's the cutest sounding inflection that she uses when she says it.  She's now started saying other things in that same tone.  For instance, yesterday at lunch she said, I had peanut jelly and a squeezer. I had cherries and some milk.  I am going to have to get it on tape because it is just the cutest thing.

She asked me to take this picture of her smiling with her milk.

-- Olivia likes to stick some of her toys {specifically the Little People} into my cleavage and then she says, Are they hitchin' a ride?

-- I picked up a couple new things to try from Target yesterday...both thanks to reading about them in different magazines.

I opened up the Everything Bagel pretzels earlier and liked them a lot.  I probably wouldn't get them all the time, but for a change they were good.

My Real Simple magazine recommended this Sheer Blonde Go Blonder by John Frieda and Target had a special going on with it, so I decided to give it a try.  I haven't been to get my hair highlighted in MONTHS {in case you can't tell from the pictures of me} so I thought this might allow me to stretch it out even longer.  Most reviews I saw online were pretty good, but some have me a little cautious not to go overboard!

-- I just finished the season/series finale of Friday Night Lights and I have got to say I am a little sad that it's over.  That show has been one of my favorites for a long time.  I was really impressed with how they wrapped it up though.  Now we need some new shows to watch -- any suggestions?  We are watching Castle now and we tried to download Chase, but there weren't many available.  I think we are also going to do Parks & Rec.  Any others we have missed?

-- Ahh, what would this post be without an organizing update?  One of the things I worked on this weekend was organizing my recipes into a recipe binder my mom gave me a couple of years ago.  I've been using it, but all I've done is shove the recipes into it.  I found some sheet protectors in my school stuff, sorted my recipes and organized them all in the binder!  I love it!

-- I am BEAT.  We walked this morning {pics tomorrow}, made breakfast burritos, organized more books and finally cleaned up our playroom.  I'm ready to rest and relax before my glucose test tomorrow.  I'm already dreading that orange drink!

Happy Tuesday from the Central Coast!

Recipe organizers are a must! That tilapia recipe sounds good too - I think I'll pick up some tilapia and that seasoning when I go to the store next time. Naturally, I JUST got back a few minutes ago.....

I did not know you liked tilapia; I thought you did not like fish. Well, the recipe sounds good (and easy) so I will have to try it. I got exhausted just reading this blog...whew you are getting a ton of organizing done. Puts me to shame! LOVE Olivia's smile in both the photos! Big hugs and kisses to her.

Hope all that organizing is out of your system before we get there. I am proud of you and David for getting so many things done and organized. I know you will feel better when it is done.

Looking forward to our visit and maybe offer a little help.
