Sydney's First Day of Pre-K

Right after we dropped Liv off at school for her first day of second grade, we headed over to Sydney's school for her Meet the Teacher day.  Her first official day of school was the very next day.  Sydney is lucky to have Mrs. Lisa, who was Olivia's Pre-K teacher as well.  She is a really sweet teacher who works very hard to teach these little 4 and 5 year olds some independence.  Sydney is doing awesome in the class and I'm so proud of how hard she works at school!

Olivia's First Day of 2nd Grade

I have no idea how it is even possible that my first born baby girl is already in SECOND grade!  And, at this point, has already completed three weeks of her second grade school year.  It blows my mind {and breaks my heart} how quickly these kiddos grow up.

I absolutely LOVE Olivia's teacher this year, and I'm so thankful she has some very familiar faces in her classroom with her good buddies Riley and Nate.  She is learning so much, and I love seeing how far she is coming along with her reading, writing and math.

I'm proud of myself, also, because I have managed to print out the background poster for her 3 years in a row so we can have some consistency with First Day of School pictures! :)

She had a great first day, and has had a wonderful first few weeks too! Can't believe she's a second grader!  Seems like just yesterday we were taking these First Day of School pictures...

Interview With a Preschooler {And a School Picture too}

When Olivia turned four, I started doing yearly "interviews" with her asking her all about her favorite things.  Well, my precious baby girl, Sydney, has just turned FOUR and so it's time to start this tradition with her.   Is she not the cutest stinkin' thing?!

Interview With a First Grader {And a School Picture}

I think I slacked a little bit on Olivia's yearly interviews, since I just did them almost 5 months after she turned 6.  {But, seriously, WHATTT?  Didn't we just have her party?}  Her answers have not changed all that much from the last 2 years - see year 4 here and year 5 here - mainly because she is still a picky eater.  :) Oh man, can you even handle the cuteness of that smile in her 1st grade picture?!  {But, seriously, WHATTT?  Didn't we just bring her home from the hospital?}

Sydney's First Day of Preschool {Year 2}

Sydney had her Meet the Teacher the same morning that Olivia had her first day of school.  Her classroom this year is in the same room where Olivia had her first preschool experience with Ms. Susan....I love that!  After we met Ms. Janna, we went to Bosa's for a back to school donut with her little buddy, Hailey, from last year!  These two couldn't be more opposite, but it's sweet watching them interact with each other.  

On Tuesday, I took Sydney in for a back to school haircut -- I swear she gets her hair done more than I do!  I just love it in that short bob cut!

Wednesday was her first official day.  She was very nervous and apprehensive going in to the classroom.  She really wanted me to stay with her, but Ms. Janna was great and had her sit on her lap right from the get go.  Nana picked her up for me after school, and her teacher said she had an AWESOME day!

We got there a little early on Friday and Face Timed with Nana and Poppy before school started!

Olivia's First Day {Week} of First Grade!

With our school system on a year-round schedule, it means that the girls go back to school much earlier than everyone else.  Liv's first day of school was July 20th!  Isn't that crazy?  Most people would call that the middle of summer, and we are back to schooling it.  While I usually feel that our summers are too short, when our extended fall and spring breaks roll around, I am thrilled!

Olivia was super excited this year to see some familiar faces in her class at Meet the Teacher night. Even knowing some good friends in her class, she was still a little nervous on her first day.  She told me that she wished she was still in Kindergarten, and I have to admit I sort of wish she was too.  She's no longer dropped off at the tiny Kinder playground, she waits for the bell to ring with all of the big kids on the giant playground.  And, after attending the curriculum night, I'm seeing that first grade is even more hard core than kindergarten in terms of academics.

I'm excited for her year - I know she is going to have a great one!  Love my big girl SO much!
